Construction
Fateh Sagar Lake was built in the 17th century by Maharana Jai Singh, who was the ruler of Udaipur at that time. He constructed the lake to provide water to the city and its surrounding areas, as water was essential for the sustenance of the people and agriculture.- The lake was initially much smaller in size. However, it was later expanded by Maharana Fateh Singh after whom the lake is named. Maharana Fateh Singh took initiatives to increase the storage capacity of the lake to meet the growing needs of the population.
